Stand Tall: A Painting, A Reflection, A Gift Some paintings carry a story beyond the canvas. Standing Tall is one of them.
For years, my brush has been a way to make sense of the world, to hold onto something solid when everything else feels like it’s shifting. This piece—48 inches of oil and motion, memory and resilience—was created as part of my Roaming House series. A series about journey, identity, and the spaces we carry within us.
But some journeys are harder than others. Some stories aren’t just about movement, but survival.
That’s why I’m donating Stand Tall to the 22nd Annual Concealed Revealed Art Auction, benefiting the YWCA Northeast Kansas Center for Safety and Empowerment. Their work provides crucial support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking—offering safety, advocacy, and a path forward.
Why This Painting? Why This Cause? Stand Tall was painted with the idea of persistence—the quiet, steady kind of strength that keeps going even when the winds rise, even when the foundation shifts. It’s about standing, even when you don’t know what’s ahead. That’s why this painting belongs here—because survival is its own form of standing tall.
If you’re able, consider supporting the Concealed Revealed Art Auction—whether by bidding, donating, or simply spreading the word. Every action helps ensure that someone who needs it finds safety, empowerment, and a future that is truly their own.
