Yellow Chair

Pathways to the Unseen

In "Chair in Attic," Joey Embers explores the hidden corners of memory and space through a skewed, fragmented composition. The painting draws the viewer into a mysterious attic room, where an abstracted chair appears amid a collage of warm, textured hues and dark shadows. The distorted perspective and overlapping planes suggest both the passage of time and the layered complexity of the human interior—emotional, psychological, and physical. A circular light source or a reflective object hovers in the dark, creating a stark contrast against the muted earth tones, casting a luminous glow that seems to pierce through the dense space. The bold brushwork and dynamic angles evoke a sense of movement and tension, as if the scene teeters on the edge of disarray and balance. "Chair in Attic" invites viewers to contemplate the hidden spaces within themselves—the forgotten, the lost, and the overlooked—while evoking a feeling of nostalgia and introspection. It is a powerful representation of how interior spaces can mirror the inner landscapes of our minds.
